Paper Jewlery!

OK, Since D.I.Y has gotten bigger, and lots of people like to come up with their own style and what not.. Here we go-

Things you'll need to get started:
  • Paper, of any kind. (origami paper, colored printer paper, old magazine, newspaper etc.)
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Ruler
  • Mod Podge
  • Sharpie's lots of colors (if you use white computer paper)
  • Pencil
  • 20+ toothpicks ( depending on the number of beads your going to make)
  • a candle you don't mind ruining ( you need a place to stick your toothpicks)
  • a paint brush ( for the mod podge)

 Part one:
First, you'll need that paper, the pencil, and the ruler. Lay the paper side ways and measure out 1/2 inch pieces down both sides until it looks like this- >

You'll then need to make diagonal lines in each of those sections, until the whole paper looks like this.. -->

Now you must cut those pieces into the odd triangular pieces as shown.-->

Part two:

Ok, now we get to the harder part. We now need the glue stick, the pieces we just cut, and the toothpicks..

From here, we take a tooth pick and one of our piece and begin to roll the paper around the toothpick. You have to keep it tight, and depending on how far down the toothpick you go the bigger the hole will be in the center of the bead. When you get closer to the end of the paper apply your glue stick and finish rolling. -->

IF all the steps I've listed all ready have been followed you should now have this. -->

Continue this until you have the number of beads you wanted to make. But your not done, so keep reading on :)

Part three:

Alright, now you need the paint brush, the Mod Podge, and the candle or whatever your using to hold the wet beads up to dry.

Take a bead and cover it with a layer of Mod Podge. -->

If you hold the brush and turn the bead you'll get better results, and also be careful not to cover the bottom of the toothpick or the top.. you may end up tearing your bead apart trying to get it off the toothpick once your done.
You'll need to add a couple coats of Mod Podge to the bead.. but wait until each coat is dry or you'll have big white bubbles all over the place.

Once the Mod Podge is dry your beads are done and should look like this -->

The earrings I've made!
Now you're free to do as you please with them.. Make some earrings, a bracelet.. whatever you want!

Also before i forget, don't get them wet.. they are paper.. they will dissolve!

Oh and if you used white paper, Color only the outsides of the triangular pieces with your sharpie, in sections of different color down each side like a mirror image.
